Hello, and welcome to the Heart of the Heart! This is the start of an everlasting improvement project focused on Nimisilla Park in Canton, Ohio. Heart of the Heart will feature the visions, ideas, goals, proposals and projects for the betterment & beautification of this incredible park, and the cultural enrichment of those who visit it! Come back often to learn more about the rich cultural heritage that permeates the park and the surrounding areas, and to share your memories and thoughts for the future.
Why “Heart of the Heart”, you ask? John Stone, founder of HeArts Coming Together, an organization focused on promoting positive world change, bringing light and life into Canton, and the cause of clean water for the world, says it best. To paraphrase, Ohio is the heart of it all. Canton is the heart of Ohio. Surrounded by four city wards (reminiscent of the four chambers of the heart), Nimisilla Park is in the heart of Canton! Our area is situated over one of the largest freshwater aquifers in the world! The vision of HeArts Coming Together is to see love and clean water flowing out of the heart to those around the world in need. To learn more visit: www.HeArtsComingTogether.net
This website is a project of Lynn McSheehy and the Nimisilla Park Revitalization Committee and will evolve over time with your cooperation and support. Show your love for your CommUnity by getting involved! Start by visiting our beautiful park! Walk around. Get to know the trees. Breath. Play. Say hello to the people you meet. Visit and participate in the B-Earth Day celebration Saturday, May 8, 2010, as we will be meeting from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm to help clean, plant flowers, share in a CommUnity picnic and drum circle (bring covered dish/snacks and instruments to share), and create Peace Tiles to exchange with friends at home and across the seas.
As we are actively looking for historical archives related to Nimisilla Park’s rich history, including Canton’s zoo, etc., anyone having content (photos, stories, home movies, etc.), or who would like to volunteer services to the improvement efforts, is encouraged to contact Councilman Thomas West at: (330) 454-4650 or John Stone at: HeArtsLOVETrain@aol.com.
